VILLAGE TAVERN CELEBRATES FIRST ANNIVERSARY

Village Tavern Celebrates First Anniversary
Introduces new menu items and Wednesday Night Out promo

It has been one year since the first branch outside the US of Village Tavern landed in the Philippines, right at the heart of Bonifacio High Street. With welcoming interiors mixing both ye olde taverns of yore and a hunting lodge, this new kid on the block has cemented itself firmly as a must-eat place in the metro. Village Tavern opened to a smorgasbord menu ranging from healthy salads and whole-wheat flatbreads to specialties of chicken, pork and steaks.

In celebration of its first anniversary, The Bistro Group Corporate Head Chef Josh Boutwood whipped up new and exciting menu items that are sure to keep you coming back for more. “The new items in the menu are a gustatory celebration,” Boutwood declares. “At their heart are comfort foods that you would expect from your neighborhood tavern, should you have one, but with a hearty twist.”
To start with, try the small plates of Crispy Clams with Spicy Lemon DipSpicy Garlic Chicken Wings, and Shrimp Balls with Cilantro Lime – perfect to share and to begin a feast.

A literal heart- and show-stopper is the Roasted Bone Marrow, best eaten spread on its accompanying freshly made sourdough bread, then lightly dipped in apple cider vinegar.

If your heart – and your stomach – can still handle it, choose from pizzas and Tavern Specialties that delight the senses. With servings made for sharing, the Village Tavern is the ideal hang out for group dates, barkada nights, and even family gatherings.

Need a substantial main to impress and feed everyone? Then go for the aptly named Tomahawk, which is a 35-ounce of perfectly aged steak, hand-cut and grilled to your liking. There’s something new at every turn, as the anniversary launches items such as the exotic Ox Cheek with Truffle Mash and Poached OnionsKansas RibsLamb Rack, and even Cod Fish and Lapu Lapu with Pico de Gallo.

As if that isn’t enough, Village Tavern is also hosting Wednesday Night Out, featuring half off on all wines by the glass, as well as all cocktails and liquors.
Says Chef Josh Boutwood, “With so many new restaurants in the metro, it can be quite difficult to create a following, especially as Filipinos become more adventurous. The new menu is our way of saying thank you to our loyal patrons – those who have their favorites and keep coming back for more, and of course, those who are always on the lookout for something new, something exciting, something to thrill their palate.

Village Tavern is located on the second floor of Bonifacio High Street Central. It is part of The Bistro Group, known for bringing in global franchises and for launching original exciting restaurant concepts. Novuhair introduces 3-in-1 Pack: Nature’s answer to hair loss, now more improved

Novuhair introduces 3-in-1 Pack
Nature’s answer to hair loss, now more improved

Years of research and testing of herbal ingredients culminated to the perfect concoction that finally solves hair loss!

Nutramedica, manufacturer and exclusive distributor of Novuhair, introduces the highly anticipated Novuhair 3-in-1 Pack which now comes with an herbal conditioner to complement the herbal shampoo and topical scalp lotion.

The trio is available in 200mL bottles each, bundled as a set to provide users with Novuhair’s optimum benefits as a hair loss solution.

“We were amazed by the big demand from our customers clamoring for an herbal conditioner. Same as with the shampoo and topical scalp lotion, the conditioner has all-natural active ingredients which include herbal extracts, essential oils and co-factor nutrients,” said Mae Velilla, Chief Operating Officer of Nutramedica.

The Novuhair brand rejuvenates hair follicles and improves blood circulation to the scalp to stimulate hair growth. It also provides optimum nutrition to combat hair loss and hair thinning.

Developed to prepare the scalp for the application of Novuhair Topical Scalp Lotion, Novuhair Herbal Shampoo softens the hair, and nourishes the scalp through pure botanical extracts. The Novuhair Herbal Conditioner, meanwhile, helps moisturize and condition the hair, giving it a shinier look, making it suppler, and nourishing its overall health while being gentle for everyday use.

“When used in combination, Novuhair Topical Scalp Lotion, Novuhair Herbal Shampoo and Novuhair Conditioner deliver greater effectiveness and significantly better results than when used individually,” added Velilla.

A clinical trial conducted last year by renowned hair and scalp expert Dr. Rica Mallari showed a 100% success rate among the volunteers. All subjects experienced no progression of hair loss and a decrease in hair shedding. More importantly, no side effects were experienced by the subjects.

An adult normally sheds 100 to 150 strands a day. Factors such as hereditary disorder, underlying medical illness, major surgery, hormonal problems, childbirth, stress, air pollutants, exposure to sunlight, medications and infections may cause excessive hair loss.

Moringaoleifera or malunggay is one ingredient that helps restore the skin’s condition and prevent falling hair. Sweet almond oil, another ingredient, is a moisture-rich oil that contains vitamins A, B1, B6 and E, as well as minerals such as magnesium and iron. Scientifically known as prunusamygdalus, sweet almond oil easily penetrates the hair shaft and follicles, relieving hair dryness and itching and providing nourishment to the hair to promote hair growth.

Other ingredients include panax ginseng, which improves blood circulation to the scalp, as well as ginger, which is also a hair bulb nutrient and stimulant. Together with aloe, they become an effective agent for hair growth and the prevention of falling hair.

Lavender helps relieve itching, and like rosemary, another ingredient, it contains properties that help combat dandruff and disinfects the scalp. Lemongrass helps clean the scalp’s pores, while peppermint is known to slow the growth of bacteria and fungi, aside from having a relaxing effect on the muscles.

Novuhair Herbal Shampoo and Conditioner may be used during bathing, to be followed by the Scalp Lotion. Simply massage a generous amount of the lotion onto the scalp for five to ten minutes, and then rinse off or leave on as a hair-styling agent.

While there are no known contraindications to Novuhair Herbal Conditioner, users are pre-cautioned against use in cases of sensitivity to the ingredients. Novuhair herbal products are only for topical use and may not be ingested.

The Novuhair 3-in-1 Topical Scalp Lotion, Herbal Shampoo and Herbal Conditioner Pack is available at all Mercury Drug and Watsons stores. Suggested retail price of the Novuhair 3-in1 Pack P4,980.

LEVANTE - The newest food and lifestyle night market in Eastwood City

Mercato Centrale brings “Levante” to Eastwood City
It’s a culinary-cum-chillax adventure like no other as the Mercato Centrale Group, organizer of the premiere night food markets around the metro, brings Levante to Eastwood City in Libis, Quezon City.
Levante, which literally translates to “the East”, will be open every Friday starting May 17 at Eastwood Citywalk 2 from 6:00pm to 3:00am. The Levante night food market is the first collaboration of the Mercato Centrale Group with the Megaworld Lifestyle Malls.
“We are very excited with this partnership because the Megaworld Lifestyle Malls Group has always been supportive of original food concepts – from their selection of innovative and progressive restaurants to the gourmet weekend markets.  We feel that the Mercato Centrale experience will complement the dining and TGIF gimmicks of Eastwood mallgoers,” said RJ Ledesma, Co-founder of the Mercato Centrale Group.
Thirty of Mercato Centrale’s best food vendors were selected for Levante. These budding food entrepreneurs, a mix of old and new, offer mouth-watering homemade cooking such as your favourite Pinoy street foods as well as the best-selling dishes from Mercato Centrale’s most popular vendors.
“Our team carefully selected the best vendors from our different managed markets to cater to Eastwood’s discerning crowd that ranges from kids to seniors; from fun-loving teens to young professionals; and from happily contented singles to couples enjoying domestic bliss. Levante offers a premium Mercato Centrale foodie experience,” added Ledesma.
Mercato Centrale has a relaxed and jovial atmosphere for families, friends, classmates, officemates, balikbayans and tourists to hang out, bond, listen to live music, and create new experiences while enjoying great food choices in unique salo-salo style. On top of that, Mercato Centrale has become the go-to place for food enthusiasts looking for the ‘next big thing’ in food.
“The strategic location of Levante allows us to serve Eastwood’s residents and neighboring villages as well as office and call centers employees who want to enjoy great food choices late at night,” said Ledemsa.
All food vendors undergo a taste test by the Mercato Centrale Group.  Vendors are chosen based on flavour, innovation and uniqueness.
“We’re proud to have helped a number of our food vendors create their own niche in the local food industry. Among those who have emerged are Manang’s Chicken, Mochiko, Chuck’s Grubberie, Mio Gelati, Spring by Ha Yuan, Merry Moo, Inutak, Zen Taclings, Eat My Garlic Fries and a lot more,” added Ledesma.
For those interested to become food vendors in Levante or any of Mercato Centrale Group’s food markets, please email admin@mercatocentrale.ph or text (+63)9178401152.

CARLO ROSSI SWEET RED - A different Sweet

Cheers to Good Times

Have you ever been in this situation?

Everyone's worried and anxious—waiting for the result of your presentation. You haven't slept properly for days working on that pitch. Then your phone rings. You almost drop it since you've been running on coffee all day. You're nervous but you answer. Yes! You win the client and everyone in the office starts buzzing, then screaming. You deserve to party. Go and celebrate this good time with your team!

“Partying is our way of saying ‘yahoo’ and expressing our delight in achieving success. Since the leap is very important to us, our way of celebration should be something that we will remember together with that accomplishment,” says Von de Torres, Managing Director, Emperador Distillers.

De Torres believes that partying over wine makes good times even better. “There are so many things in common about wine and happiness. As an American Chef-Author, Julia Child would put it, wine is one of the agreeable and essential ingredients of life.  We all agree to happiness and its essence in our life so as with wine in important celebrations.”

But in order to have a real good time, be sure to get only the real and fine wine. People could all agree that only with fine wine can celebrations be truly enjoyed so it should be wine that gives authentic world-class flavor that special moments deserve. It should be something that doesn’t only fit the occasion but a high-quality wine that suits the taste.

Emperador Distillers brings Rossi Sweet Red, a sweet red wine crafted from grapes grown in California’s sun-drenched vineyards and bursting with flavor and aroma, for your cheers to good times. It has layers of vanilla, bright cherry and wild raspberry flavor creating a different kind of sweetness.

“Yes it is sweet but remains a real wine. It’s that different kind of sweetness that makes it unique but authentic. This is how real red wine should be. You can only expect such authenticity from the number one table wine in the world.”De Torres warns against unauthentic sweet wines. “They’re basically bottled with very low alcohol content and lots of sweeteners, which is a far cry from authentic Rossi,” she says, adding that Rossi Sweet Red was specifically created to be sweet and be consumed cold, “As in with ice.”

One can already hear the purists scoffing but wine on-the-rocks is already becoming a trend in the US. Rossi Sweet Red, in particular, is recommended to be enjoyed with ice.

The ice, De Torres said, brings out the flavor and makes for a smoother finish and doesn’t compromise the taste and actually makes it even better. Even if the ice melts, the taste stays perfect so everyone can savor all the sweetness and real wine flavor.

So celebrate sweet victories, big or small—winning a pitch, wedding engagements, graduations, having a baby—with a wine that is just as sweet and a bit more refreshing. These are good times worth partying for. There’s a reason to be happy and to celebrate everyday. Whether baby steps or big leaps, you can always cheers to good times with Rossi Sweet Red.

AEROSMITH'S STEVEN TYLER ROLE IN "EPIC" (3D) REMINDS HIM OF YOUNGER YEARS

AEROSMITH'S STEVEN TYLER ROLE IN "EPIC" (3D) REMINDS HIM OF YOUNGER YEARS
Well-loved music icon Steven Tyler gives voice to a very affable caterpillar character named Nim Galuu in the upcoming family adventure 3D movie "Epic."
"EPIC" is a 3D CG adventure comedy that reveals a fantastical world unlike any other. From the creators of" Ice Age" and "Rio," "EPIC" tells the story of an ongoing battle between the forces of good, who keep the natural world alive, and the forces of evil, who wish to destroy it. When a teenage girl MK (Amanda Seyfried)  finds herself magically transported into this secret universe, she teams up with an elite band of warriors and a crew of comical, larger-than-life figures, to save their world…and ours.
Having brought to life one of the most beloved and successful animated motion picture franchises, Ice Age, director Chris Wedge and his teams at Blue Sky Studios (of which Wedge is a co-founder) achieve new heights of realism, action, adventure and detail, with EPIC.
Very much on the side of the Leafmen – is NimGaluu (voiced by Tyler).  Nim is the consummate party animal, but don’t let this larger than life caterpillar fool you – his wisdom and practical know-how make him a key behind-the-scenes player in the epic battle to save the forest.
Nim possesses a broad frame, six arms, four legs – and signature smoking jacket, whose pattern was inspired by butterfly wings. Portraying Nim is Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler.  At first glance, the choice of a rock and roll icon to essay the avuncular (though fun-loving) forest sage is unexpected, but Wedge notes that the idea to cast Tyler “just came to us and we ran with it.  Listen to Steven’s voice; it has all the necessary texture for Nim, who like Steven is a fun character with lots of energy.”
For Tyler, the role reminded him of some his experiences as a youngster.  “I grew up in the wilds of New Hampshire and I always thought there was something to be said for the quiet of the woods,” he explains.  “At the same time, I was afraid of the woods, but I grew to love it.  So I think EPIC is the perfect story to tell.”
"No matter what age, you're bound to fall in love with Epic. With the wisdom of my character, Nim Galuu and the beauty of Beyonce as Queen Tara as well as the humour of Mub and Grub, EPIC is a film that has something for everyone,"  says Tyler.
"Epic" (3D) opens May 24 in cinemas nationwide from 20th Century Fox to be distributed by Warner Bros.
