Joining Miss World 5 years ago really took me out of my comfort zone and challenged me to be more confident. After being crowned, I realised I was in a position where I had the power to influence young women, and I wanted to do my part to encourage them to stand up for themselves. I used to just shrug off people who say insensitive or hurtful comments, but now call them out and tell them they’re wrong, and I encourage all women to not be afraid to do the same,” shared Young.

Young’s success in her acting career is also a reflection of her commitment to empowering women, choosing only to act in powerful female roles. A family, however you define it, is essential at both a personal and societal level. Families feed our souls by providing security, love and support. They’re our first introduction into navigating and nurturing relationships. Let’s face it, though; maintaining close family relations is not easy. It takes time, a lot of patience and loads of humor to create a healthy family life and to build a strong unbreakable bond between you and your children. With our busy lifestyles, it can be extra difficult to carve out the time necessary to create these bonds, but there are many ways we can use our home to facilitate this.

Home technology, for one, can be the perfect tool for families to create memories and bonding opportunities. Pundits may criticize technology as damaging to family relations but there is a flip side. Instead of being responsible for the divide within a family, technology can actually be the glue that holds it together, especially with the advancement in smart TVs and home theatre systems.

When approached thoughtfully, TV viewing can be turned into an advantage because it can generate quality time together. It may take some time, and you may have to go through a healthy debate trying to select a movie everyone will like, but there’s nothing more enjoyable than cuddling up on the sofa with snacks, a blanket and everyone you love.

TVs encourages families to laugh—or cry—together, but it can also be a tool for sparking discussion and disseminating information. In the age of streaming movies and subscription services like Netflix, parents can leverage smart TVs to educate their kids by introducing them to both local and international issues, and exposing them to documentaries and nature shows that portray various cultures and people. Watching TV with your children can open them up to a world far beyond their imagination and the communities they live in.

Watching television can also be an important tool for relaxation. In today’s busy world, parents are encouraged to slow down and unwind, and children need opportunities to take a breather as well. Cozying up together in the living room watching a laugh-out-loud comedy may just do the trick.

LG heightens the family bonding experience through its latest range of OLED TVs and Super UHD TVs. Offering the latest in audio-visual innovation, these multi-functional entertainment systems provide the ultimate cinematic TV experience at home. Whether you’re watching the latest Pixel movie with the little ones, looking up videos on the Internet with your significant other or playing a video game with your teens, LG's OLED TV and Super UHD TVs can display any content in superior quality, setting you up for truly spectacular viewing.

LG’s best-selling OLED TV features an Alpha 9 processor that significantly improves noise reduction, allowing for more vivid pictures, improved color performance and superior color accuracy (a palette of over a billion rich colors). Just imagine the look of wonder on your kids’ faces when faced with LG OLED TVs startlingly lifelike images. Also ranked among the best performers in TVs worldwide are LG’s Super UHD TVs. Featuring Nano Cell Technology, these sets provide the most advanced LCD picture quality, greater brightness and a wide range of colors that are truer to the original image, even at wide viewing angles.

BLACK HAIRSPRAY: Art of Braiding

BLACK HAIRSPRAY: Art of Braiding

Black Hairspray's Art of Braiding

I was promised payment for this particular post. But all opinions are mine.

Not all hairs are created equal. Some has stronger hairs than others. Some hairs can't accept the harsh effects of braiding. When my mom was still alive she loves braiding my hair.  That is why ever since I was a child, I love braids too.  The problem is I just don't have the talent to do it by myself.

Are you one of those girls who are fascinated with braids? Whenever I see someone with braids my mind automatically relate it to Goddesses like Athena and Venus. Even the Frozen characters of Elsa and Anna wore braids. Quiet a few Video Bloggers even made a tutorial video on how to make those gorgeous braids.

During summer season, people flocked to beaches like Palawan and Boracay and almost always a lot of them sports braided hair at the beach and wore them until they reaches their homes several days after.

Not only that, I also got to see a lot of stars with braided hairstyles during movie premieres and press and blog conferences. Like my favorite singer/ actress Sarah Geronimo <3

Curious if I can do it myself, I once tried braiding my hair to no avail. Lol!  I am not good in braiding.  Good thing, there's Black HairSpray! They offer goddess braids and other type of hair accessories and products. You can check out their full range of braids that will surely fit your personality. You won't be disappointed!

The art of braiding has been practiced for thousands of years. So, immersed yourself into the art and enjoy life to the fullest.
They have a wide array of choices when it comes to ready made braids from Wavy Faux Locs and Goddess Locs to African Braids to all different kinds of Box Braids. Similar to hair extensions, if installed properly, no one will ever know that it is not your real hair!

Did you know that African braids are an old form of art that is a part of Africa's tribal customs?   It comes in different colors and shades, so there is always a color to match your fashion sense.  Such as the following:
Medium Brown

Off Black

Jet Black

Cool, right? I would want to wear their various braids Collection if I can. *Wink

New Handwashing Music Video of Alden Richards Sets the Tune for a worry-free Christmas

New Handwashing Music Video of Alden Richards Sets the Tune for a worry-free Christmas

‘Tis the season to be jolly and worry-free; as Safeguard, the nation’s leading soap that stands for germ-protection; sets the tune for a healthy Christmas celebration with the newest hand-washing music video, “Five Hugas ng Krismas.”

Featuring the charming voice of local celebrity and “Pambansang Bae” Alden Richards, the music video stresses the importance of having clean hands this Yuletide season through a colorful and energetic finger-tutting choreography set to a classic Christmas melody. This is Safeguard’s creative response to an alarming discovery from the first Philippine Handwashing Index (PHI), with results showing that most Filipinos do not wash their hands regularly and diligently. PHI is a breakthrough study commissioned by Safeguard to have a closer look at the hand-washing habits of Filipinos.

The message of the music video is simple yet impactful: “Ang bawat hugas, dapat Safeguard hugas”. This means only trusting the best when it comes to germ-protection, by simply following these five non-negotiables on when to wash your hands: before mag-mano, after banyo, before kumain, after playing, and before mag-bonding.

“A joyful Christmas is a Christmas that is spent with family and friends – happy and worry-free. A lot of us take hand-washing for granted, and since is it a good way to prevent illnesses, it’s important to remind the people to continuously wash their hands the Safeguard way,” says Alden Richards.

Director Sid Maderazo and Assistant Director Manman Angsico, a veteran theater actor and vocal coach, are the masterminds behind the creative execution of the “Five Hugas ng Krismas” music video. In it, the finger-tutting choreography features five hands that represent the five points of the star – reminiscent of the Filipino Christmas parol. For the background, sliding panels and creative props help depict the different times one should remember to wash their hands, specifically during those festive moments that define a Filipino Christmas. From bonding with the family over karaoke, to digging in on the delicious spread of local rice cakes, the music video is a fun and creative way to create awareness about the value of hand-washing.

“Sometimes the simplest of ideas can be the most challenging. The intention was to shoot the scenes seamlessly with live moving backgrounds. The easy route was to use green screen, but where’s the fun in that? It was all about great team work from everyone involved, and in the goal of sharing about an advocacy worth sharing to kids and the young-at-heart alike,” shares Director Sid Maderazo.

Clean hands for every Filipino

Through the Five Hugas ng Krismas music video, Safeguard aims to address the serious problem with the poor hand-washing habits of Filipinos, which was uncovered by the first Philippine Handwashing Index. The study found that seven out of ten Filipinos claim to wash their hands with soap after using a public toilet, but only two really do. To add, only water is being used when hand-washing by 60% of women before cooking, and 40% of women before feeding their kids

Children are the most prone to sickness, yet 66% of Filipinos have noticed or witnessed children not washing hands after using the toilet; and 40% of Filipinos do not wash their hands before touching young children.

“The results of the Philippine Handwashing Index prompted Safeguard to come up with a creative solution to keep hand-washing a top-of-mind habit in every home. Through “Five Hugas ng Krismas”, we want to work together to instill proper hand-washing habits in time of the holiday season, where Filipinos touch and and are in frequent contact with relatives and friends,” explains Jia Salindong-Du, Safeguard Philippines Brand Manager.

For over five decades, Safeguard has been a dedicated hand-washing advocate, promoting proper hand-washing habits with a wide range of antibacterial soaps that provide family protection against germs for up to 24 hours.

Watch and share the Five Hugas ng Krismas music video to spread awareness about the proper handwashing habits this season of joy. Click this link for the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xaExAK84IYk
