Vamping up the city’s already bustling lifestyle, Seven on 7^th is poised to be one of the city’s go-to place for high quality casual dining.  The restaurant is the brainchild of young entrepreneurs who have different taste palettes when it comes to food but have collaborated to unify their differences to produce a unique set of menu based on the best of what they have discovered eating from across the country and other parts of the globe.

Seven on 7^th’s kitchen is helmed by the talented Chef Jay Rollan who graduated as one of the top students among their batch and eventually became a Faculty Assistant at the world renowned ISCAHM (International School for Culinary Arts and Hotel Management).  Along with Chef Jay in the kitchen are equally creative talents who have also graduated from ISCAHM with honors.  Together, they give a fresh twist to familiar dishes and have created their own set of original recipes for soup, pasta, meat, seafood and dessert.  Chef Jay’s area of specialization includes Hot and Cold Kitchen Preparations, Menu Conceptualization and Development, Catering Operations and Kitchen Staff Training.  

Likewise, he also serves as consultant to some of the country’s premiere dining destinations.  Sharing his knowledge and passion of the culinary world and hotel management, Chef Jay has also graced and continues to be a resource speaker in various seminars for students nationwide. He has also appeared in GMA-7’s The Sweet Life Valentines Special way back in 2009.

YOSHINOYA GLORIETTA WELCOMES MS. EARTH 2013 DELEGATES

Last Monday (November 18, 2013), we got the chance to join the staff of Yoshinoya Restaurant in Glorietta 1, Makati City in welcoming some of the Miss Earth 2013 delegates. 

Shown in the above picture (L-R) are Misses Guadeloupe, India and China. 

Guadeloupe is a group of Caribbean islands. It is sometimes known as the Butterfly Island because of the shape of two of its major islands. It is an integral part of France.

You will notice that Miss Guadeloupe did not use chopsticks. She preferred to use fork for her salad as compared to her seatmates Misses India and China who both are Asians.

They were divided into three groups. They played a game of picking up marshmallows with chopsticks.

Group two won the game. Each member of the group got a Yoshinoya mug.

The Yoshinoya staff and some bloggers were very happy to meet and interview the delegates of Miss Earth 2013. They were so nice and beautiful. 

WHAT’S A MOTHER TO DO IN “DON’T CRY MOMMY”

Korea’s most recent controversial drama thriller, “Don’t Cry Mommy” unleashes a mother’s fury who seeks revenge for her daughter’s tragic death. Starring Yoo Sun as the mother named Yoo-lim whose only reason to live is her daughter who peacefully faces a new life after divorce. Nam Bo-ra takes on the role of her daughter Eun-ah, a teenage girl whose tragic experience with young love triggers her suicide.

Enrolled in a new school after her parents’ divorce, Eun-ah’s first experience in teenage romance turns into a nightmare as she becomes the victim of gang-rape perpetrated by those she knew in school that triggers her to take her own life. 

Directed by Kim Yong-Han from a screenplay by Lee Sang-Hyeon, the movie is based on various true accounts and tackles unapologetically the hidden problems in the nation.  The movie also stars U-Kiss’ pop icon Dong-Ho as Jo-han who preyed on the innocence of Eun-ha along with his friends Pak Joon (Kwan Hyun-Sang) and Min-gu (Lee Sang-Min).   

After all efforts failed to jail the minor perpetrators of Eun-ha’s death, Yoo-lim takes matters into her own hands even if it means breaking the law.  The movie was scripted with Yoo Sun in mind due to her remarkably strong portrayals in her previous films. “There are so many emotional scenes in the movie and sometimes, I would be filming emotional scenes all day long, until dawn.  It was very tiring but I had to keep myself emotionally charged for those scenes,” relates Yoo Sun. 

Nam Bo-ra who’s known in Korea for being a ‘proper-mannered’ celebrity shares, “The scenes I had to film after the tragic incident were particularly hard for me, as they required a lot of emotional acting.  But I’ve never personally experienced that kind of emotions, so I had to work hard in portraying those scenes.”

“Don’t Cry Mommy” will open on November 13 in local cinemas from Axinite Digicinema, Inc.

Starting with a selection of Breton tops both for male and female paired with oxford and linen shorts, the look is reminiscent of the easy French Riviera fashion. The nautical theme sails on with a plethora of chambrays and various fabrics like Tencel® offered in a range of washes and prints from heavy indigo to washed-out shades. 

Transitioning from the blues to a more summery palette, lightweight oxford shirts complete the Holiday Cruise collection. Linen, a Giordano summer staple, will get a new lease on life with vivid prints and colors in the Linen Story collection. 

Taking its roots from traditional Aztec, Navajo and Nomadic elements, the first part features tops, dresses and bottoms in such graphic prints. 

The collection shifts from an earthy side to a burst of color in the form of button-down shirts in pure linen and cotton blends. Splashes of bright female tops and dresses also add punch to the story. 

Cool and soothing to the eye, Summer Blues will cap off the entire Linen collection. Navy, indigo and powder blues will take center stage in an array of linen button-down shirts, pique polos and dip- dyed female tops and dresses.

Halloween’s Biggest Street Festival in Makati will be on October 31, 2013. Halloween night, hordes of the undead will rise and party with the living as J.R. Usi Presents-- MAKATI AFTER DARK: RUN & SURVIVE HALLOWFEST-- the grandest and most exciting Halloween party of the year.

With 3,000 zombies in a “FANTASY RUN” designed and directed to feel like a movie set, the run promises to give participants the most thrilling experience right at the heart of Makati’s financial business district.

Coinciding with the FANTASY RUN is an ALL-NIGHT STREET FESTIVAL adjacent to the race course featuring several TOP LOCAL BANDS, DJ’s, CAR SHOW, GTMACCON PINOY KOMIKS and COSPLAYERS CONVENTION, MERCATO CENTRALE FOOD FEST, and several other side pocket events to keep you up ‘til sunrise!

The Halloween Fest has already received the endorsement of Makati Mayor Junjun Binay as well as the Makati Tourism Office. “MAKATI AFTER DARK is an event that can greatly help promote Makati as a top events destination that will attract more local and foreign visitors to the city.”

In addition, a separate DJ setup will also be in place for those who’d rather dance the night away with other celebrity guests expected to make an appearance and join in the festivities.

HALLOWEEN “FIESTAVAL” Foodies are also in for a treat as MERCATO CENTRALE will be holding one of its biggest Food Bazaars at the venue and will offer party goers a wide array of choices that will satisfy all your cravings.

See coolest and sleekest cars in a special CAR SHOW that will showcase some of the most pimped out rides, exotic cars and numerous high-end custom cars.

Kicking off the festivities will be GTMACCON 3 Pre-Event where Pinoy Komiks artists and Pinoy Komiks Cosplayers can meet and interact with their fans.

Giordano Philippines Debuts on Philippine Fashion Week

Giordano debuts on the runways of Philippine Fashion Week with a sneak peek of their Spring Summer 14 collections. This Saturday, October 26, 2013 at the SM Mall of Asia Main Atrium, Giordano’s new collections – Holiday Cruise and Linen Story will bring some fresh summer vibe on the catwalk with 85 looks featuring nautical elements, updated chambrays, summer linens, oxfords in crisp pastel palette and an array of colorful basics. Live beats provided by DJ Callum David, a.k.a. DJ Vinimal will set the show sailing on a breezy summer cruise.

A pop-up exhibit, open from 12 noon until 9 in the evening, will give the guests something extra to look forward to. Staged in a nautical themed store, guests can soak up on the seafaring vibe of Giordano. Furthermore, fashion bloggers will get to show their eye for fashion by their personally-styled mannequins which will be exhibited at the booth. Fashion fans and followers will get the chance to meet these bloggers at certain times throughout the day: Aisa Ipac, David Guison, Alyssa Lapid, Tracy Ayson, Kookie Buhain, Mikyle Quizon, Dani Baretto, Miko Carreon, and Enciso sisters, Vern and Verniece. 

Also part of the exhibit will be a showcase of World Without Strangers prints done by local artists, Soleil Ignacio, Chi Chi Monster and Barry Ambrosio. Giordano will be giving away 45 shirts featuring these ironed-on prints.   
  
Not to miss out on this happening event, a Twitter/Instagram booth will also be set up on the pop-up exhibit. Anyone can join and post photos using the hashtag #GiordanoPhFW and get photo print outs for free!  Freebies await those who stay connected to Instagram or Twitter during the event.
